Attention pop culture lovers – the time to geek out is nearly here! From the fans who’ve brought you Calgary Comics & Entertainment Expo (Calgary Expo), comes CALGARY EXPO: LIMITED EDITION, a one-time-only Calgary Expo experience, September 10-12, 2021 in the BMO Centre, on Stampede Park.

CALGARY EXPO: LIMITED EDITION will be a special, one-of-a-kind Expo, specifically designed to delight pop culture fans during these unique circumstances and presented with enhanced safety measures and a limited release of just 25,000 tickets. Fans can expect the same celebration of fandom and community with shopping, cosplay, celebrity and creator guests, and favourite featured areas like Artists Alley and the Cosplay Red Carpet – even exclusive LIMITED EDITION merchandise.

And, very special for this year, September 10 will be Healthcare Heroes Day, in honour of those who made this celebration possible!

HEALTH & SAFETY
Health and safety is the top priority for organizers. To be able to respond to changing recommendations, organizers will release a full health and safety plan 30 days prior to the event. CALGARY EXPO: LIMITED EDITION will strictly adhere to all Alberta Health and government requirements.

"We understand the only way any of this happens is if we all strictly observe and deeply respect the restrictions and recommendations made by public health authorities," said Andrew Moyes, FAN EXPO HQ Vice President. "We’re actively developing and continually revising our health and safety plans as the situation evolves and feel confident participants will clearly understand what to expect when they received our plan in early August. There will be no surprises, and lots of time to adjust as needed."

CALGARY EXPO was meant to celebrate its 15th anniversary April 2020 and was anticipating attendance of nearly 100,000 people. After several attempts to reschedule, the decision was made to move formal anniversary celebrations to April 2022.

HEALTHCARE HEROES DAY, SEPTEMBER 10
As a heartfelt thank you to the Healthcare Heroes who have made this announcement possible, Friday, September 10 will be Healthcare Heroes Day at CALGARY EXPO: LIMITED EDITION. Organizers are welcoming healthcare workers with valid workplace ID to sign up to receive complimentary admission on September 10 – details for how the program will work will be announced in August. Fans are encouraged to show their appreciation as well, with cosplay, art, and other creative expressions.

"Events like Calgary Expo are so much more than just fun festivals of fandom; for many they are vital touchpoints for community and for fostering a sense of belonging. After so much time apart, we’re thrilled to be able to provide that for fans once again and want to acknowledge all the healthcare heroes who went above and beyond to make it possible," said Andrew Moyes. "As we take the final necessary steps on the path to a safe re-opening, we encourage everyone to stay vigilant and keep taking care of one another. We can’t wait to celebrate with you this September!"
