On a brisk Saturday afternoon Inglewood’s Loose Moose Theatre was a cozy host for a kid-centric adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, opening day. The funny, lively and quirky take will be on the stage Saturdays at 1pm and Sundays at 1pm and 3pm until February 18th.

Shows only run an hour long, so are perfect for audiences with young children. Even the squirmiest of tyke will be able to sit through this one, especially given the way the cast engages with the audience. A child is selected in the first half to come up on stage and play a game with the royal family. Songs are sung; kids are allowed to be vocal and participate in the dialogue. It’s truly a blast for the young crowd.

Don’t expect epic costumes or fancy stage sets but do expect a humble theatre experience that is short and sweet, exactly what you might expect if Sleeping Beauty was told through a child’s eyes. The acting is strong, and the performance enjoyable.

Should the Theatre for Kids series not be to your tastes, Loose Moose also does adult theatre sports Friday nights, gorilla theatre Saturday nights, and the High School Improv Invitational is coming up at the end of February. Visit their website for more details.
