Given a chance to see behind the curtain before the historic opening of a recreational cannabis shop, I jumped at the chance. NOVA Cannabis, located in south Calgary’s Willow Park shopping complex (252-10816 MacLeod Trail SE), is one of only two retail cannabis stores that will open in Calgary October 17th (more stores are opening, pending municipal approval).

NOVA is part of the Alcanna group of liquor (and now cannabis) stores, and I managed to catch up with Shelley Girard, their VP of Brand Strategy Development, Cannabis. We only had time for a short visit, but there is lots of enthusiasm for this historic moment for Canada and weed enthusiasts will now be able to purchase legally top-notch cannabis.
