It comes with great disappointment to report that the Town of Taber Council has denied our request to raise again the Pride Flag on the community flagpole in Confederation Park in June 2018. Though we were granted permission to fly the Pride Flag for the month of June 2017, it was not without incident, but we persevered and it proudly flew until month’s end.
Though we are saddened by this decision, we shall stay strong and resilient in the face of adversity and remember what it is we are trying to achieve. Every day we stand tall to show others the discrimination that still exists in our community; we stand against hate and ignorance in all its forms. We recognize that there are different points of view and we invite town council and the citizens of Taber to stand with us for a safe and inclusive community for all.
As our mission statement proclaims, "Our goal is to create a safe space in our community for sexual and gender identity minorities and their allies. Focusing on a more welcoming and inclusive community through community engagement, partnerships, social groups and advocacy."
"Hope will never be silent." - Harvey Milk
