Popular event celebrates and deepens Calgarians’ involvement in the health and fitness culture
YYCfit Health and Fitness Expo ("YYCfit") is returning for a second year on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Big Four Building on the Stampede grounds. The popular event showcases Calgary’s incredible health and fitness scene including representation from boutique fitness studios, equipment companies, fitness apparel, healthy food options, adventure travel and more.
Following a successful inaugural year in 2017, president Erika Holter has evolved the show to add even more value for attendees. One of the highlights this year will be the "Visible Vault" which features a grand prize trip for two to the Galápagos Islands as well as prizes from participating exhibitors. Attendees will have the opportunity to try to crack the six-digit code and if successful, the winner will take home the vault contents valued at approximately $25,000. Additionally, one of last year’s most popular exhibitors – Bio Scan – will be offering complimentary body scans (typically valued at $50) to each attendee.
"We were very proud of what we accomplished in year one but this year we wanted to make the expo even bigger and bolder," said president Erika Holter. "Again this year we have a fantastic line-up of exhibitors, we’ve added some exciting new expo elements and organized an exceptional lineup of speakers and demo stage participants."
In place of two stages, Holter has combined the demo and seminar stage to bring educational, fun and inspiring presentations. In addition to talks from Lucy Dunne sharing some of the inspiring stories of her clients and Jeannette Castillo sharing her journey with cancer, some of the highlights include:
"Why Getting Kids Unplugged is so Important" by Rob McLeod
"How to Build a Better City Through Play" by Hafiz Mitha, Founder of PlayCity
"How Shifting our Mindset Impacts Our Weight Loss Goals" by Amber Romaniuk of Amber Approved
The event remains family-friendly with the return of the KIDfit Zone. This section will showcase fun ways that fitness can become a regular part of the household. Kids will be given the opportunity to demo all sorts of different activities, and parents will have the ability to sign their kids up for classes on the spot. Lagree YYC and Sport Chek Women have also come on board as sponsors and will be bringing in Calgary Stampede Royalty for a meet and greet and photo opportunity on both days of the expo.
General advance admission tickets are $7 for children and $10 for adults. Both can be purchased in advance online at or at the door. Anyone who purchases their ticket online prior to noon on April 17th, will be entered in for a draw for $100 to spend at the expo. For more information, please visit www.yycfitexpo.ca.
