We are recruiting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender(LGBT+) individuals 50 years of age or olderto participate in an anonymous, online survey.
The purpose of this survey is to obtain a better understanding of the local housing needs, wants, and experiences of LGBQT+ seniors and those approaching senior age, in Calgary and area. The results from this study will be used to promote and advocate for housing options to meet the needs of senior LGBT+ Calgarians.
The survey will take approximately 15 - 20 minutes to complete. The survey is voluntary and anonymous (meaning there will be no way to link your responses to your identity).
All individuals who complete the survey will be able to enter into a draw for one of eight grocery gift cards valued at $50.00.If you are interested entering the draw, you will be asked to submit your phone number or email address through a link at the end of the survey. Your contact information will be kept strictly confidential and will not be associated with your survey responses in any way.
This study is proceeding under the guidance of an Advisory Committee made up of LGBT+ Seniors and with the support of peer researchers. The project was developed by the recommendation of Rainbow Elders Calgary, a group of individuals who have been meeting to discuss, create, and implement strategies that will improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ seniors in Calgary, of which housing and care are key concerns. This project is funded by the Calgary Homeless Foundation with coordination and research support from the SHARP foundation, Habitus Consulting Collective, and Mount Royal University
